OBITUARY: Hulda Wilhelmine Emilie Scheer, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise-Journal, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 11 APR 1991) Hulda Wilhelmine Emilie Scheer [1902-1991] Funeral services for Hulda Wilhelmine Emilie Scheer, 88, of St. Ansgar, who died April 6, were held Wednesday, April 10 at Immanuel Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating. Hulda Wilhelmine Emilie Scheer was born December 20, 1902 at Bazile Milles, Nebraska, the daughter of Gottleib and Alvina Kumm Scheer. She was baptized into the Christian faith January 25, 1903 by Pastor Scjormann at Christ Lutheran Church. She attended school and grea up at Bazile Mills. On June 26, 1932 she married Edgar Scheer at Yankton, SD. This union was blessed with one daughter, BernaDean. They started out farming in Nebraska in the depression years and then moved to Iowa. Settling first in Worth County in 1938; they moved to St. Ansgar area in 1940, living in Meltonville. Four years later they moved to the farm where the Marvin Kofoots now live. They retired to a home in the town of St. Ansgar in 1955. Hulda worked for Dreyer (and later Brower) Drug for 13 years. A faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, she served as Esther Circle member and leader for many years. She was in charge of the altar paraments for several years and made baptismal napkins. She was active in quilting over the years, enjoyed her garden and visiting the sick and shut-ins. Hulda is survived by her husband, Edgar; daughter, BernaDean and son-in-law, Marvin Kofoot, St. Ansgar; grandchildren, Larry Kofoot of St. Ansgar; Dean Kofoot, Fort Atkinson; Vicki Koch of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Allen Kofoot of Hampton; Debra Hytry of Germany; great grandchildren, Sam Kofoot, St. Ansgar; Jeremy, Jason and Joshua Kofoot of Fort Atkinson; Dustin and Kevin Koch of Las Cruces, NM; Michael, Matthew, Marcus, Kristina and Katherine of Hampton; Ryan and Kyle Hytry of Germany; two brothers, August Scheer of Frankenmuth, Michigan and Arthur Scheer of Kansas City, Kansas; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ella, Elsie, Martha, and Ida; brothers Otto, Rudolph and Arnold.
