OBITUARY: Allan Leo Sloan, Mitchell County, Iowa [ Mitchell County Press-News online -- July 17, 2001 -- www.mcpress.com ] Allan Leo Sloan [1928-2001] Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma, on July 2, 2001 for Allan Leo Sloan, age 73, of Waucoma. Rev. Marvin Salz officiated and Diane Neuzil was lector. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waucoma, IA. Allan Leo Sloan was born the son of Leo and Fidellis (Woods) Sloan on August 31, 1928 at Fairbank, Iowa. He graduated from Waucoma High School in 1946. Allan enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 1946 and served his country until August of 1949. He then farmed near Waucoma for many years and also drove school bus for the Turkey Valley School District for 30 years before retiring in 1993. Allan continued living on the farm with his mother who died in 1994. In August of 2000 Allan entered the New Hampton Care Center where he died June 28, 2001. Allan enjoyed attending the American Legion and VFW meetings, reading, being with his family. Preceding him in death were his parents. Those that survive him include his four sisters, Mary (Mrs. Edmund) Hauer of St. Lucas; Gerri Bodensteiner of Osage, Ruth (Mrs. John) Neuzil of Charles City and Jane (Mrs. Leo) Huber of Davenport; two brothers, John and his wife, Maggie of Waucoma and David and his wife, Bernie of Scottsdale, AZ and several nieces and nephews. ************************************************************** Copyright (c) 2001 by Kermit Kittleson.
