OBITUARY: Regina (Younker) Theis, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press Online, obituary, May 2, 2001, www.mcpress.com] Regina (Younker) Theis [1903-2001] Funeral services were held Saturday, April 28, 2001 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven for Regina Theis, age 97, of New Haven. Father Ray E. Atwood officiated and interment was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New Haven. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, in charge of arrangements. Regina died Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. She was born May 17, 1903 in Elma the daughter of Otto and Rosina (Peters) Younker. She received her education at Catholic schools in elma and continued her education at Columbia College in Dubuque. She returned and taught several years in rural schools in Howard County. On June 4, 1924 she was united in marriage to Francis Theis in Elma. They farmed near New Haven. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Francis in 1987; three brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Those that survive her include three daughters, Dolores Steffen and husband, Jim, of Riceville; Catherine Marr of Sheboygan, WI, and Pauline Ovel and her husband, Walt of New Hampton; two sons, Dean Theis and wife, Bonnie of New Haven and Don Theis and wife, Patricia of New Haven; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
