OBITUARY: Roman G. Thome, Mitchell County, Iowa [ Mitchell County Press online at www.mcpress.com 6/13/2001 ] Roman G. Thome [1912-2001] Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, for Roman G. Thome, age 88, of Osage. Rev. Philip Recker officiated. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. He died Thursday, June 7, 2001 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, in charge of arrangements. Roman was born Dec. 18, 1912 to John and Sarah (Steiger) Thome in Stacyville. He is the last of 12 children. Roman grew up in the Meyer area. He was united in marriage to Wava Krumlinde on April 6, 1942 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Meyer. They had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Roman farmed in the Osage area before moving into Osage in 1967 when he went to work for Germaine Mullenbach as a mason. He then became custodian for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School until his retirement. Roman was an avid fisherman and did so at any chance he could. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Wava; 7 brothers, Joseph, Frank, John, Albert, Fredrick, Carl and Arnold; four sisters, Theresia, Elizabeth, Florentina and Rosina. Those that survive him include two daughters, Joeleen Samec and her husband Richard of New Hampton and their children, Jerry, Randy and Jill; and Deanna Shoars and her husband Michael of Orchard and their children, Chad and Chris; many nieces and nephews. ************************************************************** Copyright (c) 2001 by Kermit Kittleson.
