OBITUARY: Joseph Frederick Beyer, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 27 APR 1978 ) Joseph Frederick Beyer Funeral services for Joseph F. Beyer, 75, who died in St. Ansgar April 21, were held April 25 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township, with the Rev. Richard Zellmer and the Rev. David Ide officiating. Joseph Frederick Beyer was born August 7, 1902 in Newburg Township, the son of Albert and Martha (Lemke) Beyer. He was baptized September 7, 1902 by the Rev. John Becker with Frederich Steinberg, Wilhelm Boening and Emma Beyer serving as sponsors. He was confirmed April 1, 1917 by the Rev. W. Reineke. April 25, 1934 he was married to Mary Elizabeth Crooks, with the Rev. Christian Kumph officiating. Fourteen children were born to them. He served as a janitor for St. John's Lutheran church for 33 years, where he was an active member. He retired from farming in 1968. Survivors include: his wife, Mary; six sons and eight daughters, Richard of St. Ansgar; Frederick of Danville, Ark.; Edward, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Robert (Esther) Kansenbach of Faribault, Minn; Paul of rural Osage; Mrs. Marion Tidemanson of Milwaukee, Wis.; Charles of Des Moines; Mrs. Richard (Verona) Allen of Newton; Mrs. Robert (Jorene) Glassel of St. Ansgar; Joseph of Shell Rock; Mrs. Don (Leone) Kofoot of St. Ansgar; Mrs. Greg (Myrno) Klemesrud of Charles City; Mrs. Ruth Evans of Des Moines; Mrs. Paul (Sharon) Pederson of Carpenter; also 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five sisters and two brothers, Ida Teall of Osage; Selma Kittleson, Julius, Albert and Lavina Hannam of St. Ansgar; Hedwig Bork of Grafton; Hilda Stonehocker of St. Petersburg, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, three brothers, August, George and William; and one sister, Ruth. Burial was in St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Zellmer and Rev.
