OBITUARY: CARROLL, Raymond Peter [1926-c1966], Mitchell County, Iowa CARROLL, Raymond Peter [1926-c1966] Died of Leukemia. Funeral services were held March 14, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven for Raymond Carroll, 40, who died March 11, at Veteran's hospital in Iowa City. Mr. Carroll was a victim of leukemia from which he suffered the past four years. The Rev. Gregory Hemesath, church pastor was in charge of the services. Arrangements were by C. R. Champion and Sons, and burial was at St. Peter's cemetery in New Haven. Military rites were conducted at the cemetery by the memorial squad of Osage American Legion post 278. Raymond Peter Carroll was born Feb. 9, 1926, the son of Robert and Mary Louise Kroner Carroll. He was graduated from Osage, high school in 1943. Entering the air force in 1945, he was given a medical discharge 18 months later because of an earlier illness. He was employed in Council Bluffs, Ridgeway and other points before returning to Osage to become assistant manager of the Osage Co-Op elevator. He later owned a feed and seed firm in New Haven, and farmed until the present. His marriage to Jane Barthlomey of Stacyville took place April 2, 1959 at Visitation Catholic church. They established their home on their present farm near Little Cedar. Mr. Carroll was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, and was affiliated with the Knights of Columbus there. He was a member of the American Legion, and served as vice president of the National Farmers organization (NFO) in 1965. Surviving are his wife, Jane; four children, Mindy, Roberta, Christopher and Mary Jo of Little Cedar; his parent of New Haven; one brother, Patrick Carroll of Ephrata, Wash.; and one sister, Mrs. John Eischeid of Council Bluffs.
