OBITUARY: Ruth E. Conklin, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News, online, www.mcpress.com, Posted Oct. 9, 2001] Ruth E. Conklin 1917-2001 A memorial service was held Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, for Ruth E. Conklin, age 84, of Osage. Rev. Roy Ott and Rev. Dennis Hanson officiated. A private family interment was held Saturday morning at the Osage Cemetery. Ruth died Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. Ruth Ellen Cordes was born March 13, 1917 in Osage to Albert and Ellen (Thompson) Cordes. She graduated from Osage High School in 1934. She then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo and graduated in 1936. After graduation, she worked at Home Trust & Savings Bank for 20 years until retirement. She was a past member of the National Association of Bank Women. Ruth married Jack M. Conklin on September 22, 1940 in Osage. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Mrs. Bert (Katherine) Pasco and Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Gilles. Those that survive her include her husband Jack; one daughter Mrs. Bill (Ellen) Trammell of Osage; one granddaughter Mrs. David (Tanya) Womeldorf of Lakeville, MN; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Womeldorf also of Lakeville. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 833 Ash Street, Osage, IA 50461.
