OBITUARY: Oscar Charles Duenow, Mitchell County, Iowa Oscar Charles Duenow [1893-1966] Funeral Held Here March 17, (1966) Funeral services for Oscar C. Duenow, 73, who died in Los Angeles, Calif. March 10, were held on Thursday, March 17 at the Schroeder & Houg Funeral Home here with the Rev. William Kamke, pastor of St. Peter Lutheran church, Toeterville, officiating. Oscar Charles Duenow was born January 20, 1893 in St. Ansgar Township, the son of William and Eliza (Wagner) Duenow. He was baptized March 4, 1893 and confirmed in St. Peter Lutheran church, Toeterville March 24, 1907. Mr. Duenow attended Spring Valley rural school and was graduated from St. Ansgar high school, with the class of 1912. He also attended Iowa State Normal at Cedar Falls, and taught in the schools of Mitchell County for a number of years. After going to Los Angeles he became a member of the Los Angeles Police Department. In 1955 he retired after 30 years with the department. He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Matilda Smith of North Hollywood California, Mrs. Lena (L. Roy).Thorson of Grand Rapids, Minn.; Mrs. Alma Kearney of Takoma Park, Md., and Esther and Grace Duenow of Los Angeles with whom he made his home; also 19 nieces and nephews. Burial was in St. Peter Lutheran cemetery, Toeterville, with Rev. Kamke in charge of the committal services.
