OBITUARY: Alice M. (Stover) Fonda, Mitchell County, Iowa Alice Maria (Stover) Fonda [1858-1901] Last Saturday morning death came to Mrs. Alice Fonda at her home in the Second ward in this city. For seven years she had been an invalid and a great sufferer, and death was a welcome release to the gentle spirit. Alice Maria Stover was born Nov. 15, 1858, at Linnville, Illinois. Early in life she moved with her parents to Stacyville, Mitchell county, Iowa, where her home had since been until she moved to Osage about seven years ago. She was married to Edward S. Fonda October 30, 1886. To union was born two children, Edward Stanley and Olive Blanche. Since coming to Osage her health has not permitted her to mingle in society, but those who knew her in earlier years will remember her as a person of sweet and gentle disposition with a kind heart and word for all. Death came in the early morning of March 23, 1901, and friends who knew the pain that had been hers could not wish her back in the world. The surviving relatives and especially the orphaned children have the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the house, conducted by her pastor, Rev. T.E. Taylor.
