OBITUARY: Margaret Marie Arens Fox (1913-2001), Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press online mcpress.com May 15, 2001 ] Margaret Marie (Arens) Fox Funeral services were held Monday, May 14, 2001 at Immaculate Conception Church, Riceville, for Margaret Fox, age 88, of Riceville. Rev. Ray Atwood officiated and graveside services were held at Calvary Cemetery, Riceville. She died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Riceville Community Rest Home. Margaret Marie Arens was born March 18, 1913 in Remsen the daughter of Nicholas and Margaret (Bauer) Arens. She attended school in Marshall, MN. Before her marriage, Margaret lived and worked in California for a few years. In 1941, she moved to Minnesota and worked in a defense plant at the start of World War II. On Oct. 9, 1942, Margaret was united in marriage to Leonard J. Fox in St. Paul, MN. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to a farm two miles west and two miles south of Riceville and two years later moved to the farm they called home five and one miles south of Riceville. In 1983, they moved into Riceville and Margaret lived there until she entered the Riceville Community Rest Home in March of 2001. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and enjoyed painting and gardening. Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Kathryn Foster; a grandson, Wade Foster; a brother, Clarence Arens; and a sister, Lillian Arens in infancy. Those that survive her include her husband, Leonard; children and spouses, Dennis and wife JoAnn of Rochester, MN, Diane and husband Orville Engelhardt of Humble, Texas, Bernard of Dubuque, Marilyn and husband Ron Reis of Lime Springs, Duane and wife Jill of Kansas City, MO, Peter J. and wife Jolene of Forest City, Richard of Riceville, Patricia J. Fox of Chanhassen, MN and Greg and wife Becky of Riceville; 28 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Evelyn Larson of Maplewood, MN, Catherine Blaeser of Pequot Lakes, MN, Mildred Lanoue of Waubun, MN and Irene Olchefski of Fridley, MN.
