OBITUARY: Peter J. Fox, Mitchell County, Iowa Peter J. Fox [1878-1963] FUNERAL SEVICES WERE HELD FOR PETER J. FOX, 84, NEW HAVEN, MARCH 6 (1963) Funeral Services were held last Wednesday morning for Peter J. Fox, 84, of New Haven, who died Mar. 3, at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City. Mr. Fox had been in failing health since August, 1962, and had been confined to the hospital intermittently. The Rev. John J. A. Breitbach, church pastor, was in charge of the services at St. Peter's Catholic church in New Haven. Burial was in the church cemetery. Peter Joseph Fox was born on the family homestead south of New Haven, Oct. 23, 1878, the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Fox, Sr., early settlers in the area. His marriage to Clara Miller took place at the New Haven church, Oct. 9, 1912. They began farming at Omega, Saskatchewan, Canada, returning to their present farm east of New Haven about 1914. Mr. Fox was a Douglas township trustee, was president of the Douglas School board, severed o the election board, and was a lifelong member of the Catholic church. Survivors include his wife, Clara; seven children: Ralph, Leonard and Richard of Riceville; Mrs. Marie McCabe of Los Angeles; Mrs. Vincent E. Dunlay of Osage; Mrs. Hollis Brownlee of Chula Vista, Calif.; Mrs. Tom Palm of Dayton, Ohio; 40 grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters: Frank of Fond du Lac, Wis.; John and Casper of New Haven; Walter of Osage; Ralph of Orchard; Mrs. Nora Gilles of Riceville; Mrs. Ernest Kleckner of St. Ansgar; Mrs E. J. Gallagher, Sr., of Waterloo; and Mrs Lilliam Duff of Toronto, Canada. Preceding him in death besides his parents were one brother, Herbert and one sister, who died in early childhood.
