OBITUARY: Robert Raymond Kienast, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News, online, www.mcpress.com, Posted Nov. 27, 2001] Robert Raymond Kienast Memorial services will be at 1 pm, Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, for Robert Raymond Kienast, 74 of Clear Lake. Msgr. Robert Hogan of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake will officiate and inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with military graveside honors by the Veterans of Foreign Post in Clear Lake. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until service time on Thursday at the chapel. According to his wishes his body was cremated. Robert died Saturday, November 24, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. Robert Raymond Kienast was born on January 23, 1927, in Mitchell County, Iowa, Osage, the son of Henry Howard and Herbertena (Michels) Kienast. He attended and received his education in the Osage School system, graduating from Osage High School. He was inducted into the U.S. Army during World War II, serving overseas in the Philippines with Co. A 42nd Engineer Bn. in which he received the Army Occupational Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, and the World War II victory medal, until his honorable discharge on November 7, 1946, at Ft. George Meade, MD. After honorable discharge he came back to the Osage area and worked as a mason for the Kienast Construction Company, where he worked for several years. He was united in marriage to Rosalyn Petersen on December 30, 1950, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake. After his marriage he moved to Clear Lake where he worked for A.M.F. Inc. building and refinishing bowling alleys until his retirement. After his retirement he worked part time doing construction work for others. Robert also worked part time after his retirement for the VFW and The Town Pump in Clear Lake. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and golfing, but his great love and enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of VFW in Clear Lake. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Roxanne Bergo and her husband Bryan of Mankato, MN; two grandchildren, Jeremy Bergo of Minneapolis, MN, and Justin Bergo of Mankato, MN; a daughter-in-law Deborah Frampton and her husband Kenneth of Clear Lake and their family Brandon Frampton of Iowa City, and David Frampton of Clear Lake; brothers and sister, Joseph Kienast of Mason City, Val Kienast of Wayne, NE, Ann Baslee of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and James Kienast of Orlando, FL; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his only son, Reginald Kienast, his parents, Sister Majella and Sister Stephania, and three brothers, Arnold, Bernard, and Paul Kienast.
