OBITUARY: Della K. Larson, Mitchell County, Iowa [ St. Ansgar Enterprise, 19 JUN 1980] Della K. Larson [1898-1980] Funeral services for Mrs. Della Larson, 82, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center June 13, were held June 17 at the First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Oreanna Kedella Kittleson was born February 4, 1898 in St. Ansgar, the daughter of George and Mathilda (Knutson) Kittleson. She was baptized by the Rev. Johann Olsen, and confirmed by Rev. M. E. Waldeland. After graduating from Iowa State Teachers College, she taught country schools in North Dakota, Minnesota and the Hilden school near St. Ansgar. She married Oscar G. Larson of Mona in 1920, and lived in Charles City, Mason City and farmed near Mona before returning to St. Ansgar. Mrs. Larson was active in 4-H work, serving as leader of the St. Ansgar Peppy Pals club. She was an employee at the St. Ansgar Post office for 24 years, retiring in 1968. She held various offices in the American Legion Auxiliary unit 358 over a period of years. A charter member, she served as a unit secretary for 25 years, 19 of them consecutvely, and was awarded a lifetime membership for her loyalty and patriotism. Mrs. Larson was a devoted lifelong member of the first Lutheran church, and belonged to the Martha Circle. Since February 1978 she had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center here. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; her parents, a sister and two brothers, Clayton and Glenn. Mrs. Larson is survived by one sister, Mrs. Violet Hildreth of Austin, Minn.; three brothers, Irving Kittleson of Bettendorf, Sherwin and Alton of St. Ansgar; nieces and nephews. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Engelstad in charge of committal services.
