OBITUARY: Beverly J. Leraaen, Mitchell County, Iowa

                         Beverly J. Leraaen
                         
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2001, 1 pm at the First
Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, for Beverly J. Leraaen, age 65, of St. Ansgar.
Rev. Robert Porisch will officiate and burial will be in the First Lutheran
Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at Schroeder
and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar. She died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at
Mitchell County Regional Health Center.

Beverly was born March 22, 1936 in Austin, MN to Edmund and Elinor
(Anderson) Bachman. She was baptized and confirmed in Our Savior's
Lutheran Church, Lyle, MN. She grew up in Lyle and graduated from Lyle
High School in 1954. Beverly was united in marriage to Oral (Bud) K. Leraaen
on May 15, 1955. They made their home in St. Ansgar and raised three
children, Nancy, Scott and Eric. She worked at St. Ansgar Mills from 1963
to 1979 as bookkeeper. She then worked at the St. Ansgar School District
as Business Manager/Board Secretary from 1979 to 1984. Bev and Bud moved
to Boone, Iowa in 1984 where she was business manager and board secretary
for Boone Community Schools for 13 years. In Boone, she was secretary of
the Morning Kiwanis for five years, director of the Boone County Credit
Bureau for five years and was a member of the Boone Golf and Country Club.
She was also an active member of the Augastana Lutheran Church in Boone.

Bev and Bud returned to St. Ansgar in 1997 to be closer to family and
friends. She served as President of the American Legion Auxiliary for
two terms, was an active member of the church she loved, the First Lutheran
Church, the Mary-Ruth Circle and served as church treasurer. She was an
active member of the community, enjoyed socializing with her many friends.

Preceding her in death was her infant son Steven, her father Edmund and a
brother Bruce.

Those that survive her include her husband Bud; her mother Elinor of
Lyle, MN; a daughter, Nancy Johnson of Osage and her children Bryan and
Julie; two sons, Scott and his wife Denise of St. Ansgar and their children,
Nelle, Leah, Rycki and Stevie, and Eric and his wife Lynn of St. Ansgar;
one sister Sue Young of Pomona, CA and her son Kevin; brother-in-law Galen
and wife Janice of St. Ansgar; sister-in-law Bonnie and her husband Bill of
Elko, NV.

Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, was in charge of
arrangements.
