OBITUARY: Austin Owen, Mitchell County, Iowa Austin Owen [c1852-1901] (March 1901) Our townsman, C.M. Owen received word a few days ago that his oldest son, Austin Owen had died at Boise City, Idaho. The deceased was born at Belcherton, Mass., 49 years ago, coming west with his parents to Osage and living here one year when he left for the then almost unknown west. He located at Boise City at an early date in the history of that town where he finally died. At the time of his death he was proprietor of a large livery business. The papers of that town speak highly of his worth as a citizen and printed a lengthy account of his identification with the growth and interests in and about Boise City. ---- Owen a brother, was with him at the time of his death and notified the father, now past eighty years old, of the death of his oldest son. The body was interred at Boise City. The deceased never married and was said to have accumulated considerable valuable property.
