OBITUARY: James F. Pitzen, Mitchell County, Iowa [ Mason City Globe Gazette Online Obituaries ] Sunday, May 2, 1999 JAMES F. PITZEN LEWISTON. Minn. - James F. Pitzen, 61, died Friday (April 30, 1999) at Rochester Methodist Hospital. He was born on April 26, 1938, to Alfred and Mary (Reding) Pitzen in Stacyville, Iowa. On June 20, 1959, he was united in marriage with Vernie Terhark in Stacyville. Jim was born and raised in Stacyville and in 1967 he and his family moved to Rose Creek. In 1984 they moved to Lewiston, Minn., and have resided there since. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was very hard working and dedicated to his job. He enjoyed garden work and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim will always be remembered as having the cleanest car in Lewiston. He is survived by his wife, Vernie; his parents, Alfred and Mary; six children, Theresa (John) Maher of Austin, Minn., Steve Pitzen of Pheonix Ariz., Judy (Donald) Oswald of Adams, Minn., John Pitzen of Leesville, La., Thomas (Megan) Pitzen of Victoria, Minn., Jason (Abby Ties) Pitzen of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Ron (Becky) Pitzen and Gene (Jane) Pitzen, all of Stacyville; and four sisters, MaryJane (Jim) Mauer of Chicago, Betty (Marly) Stoltenberg of Mason City, Carol (Vaughn) Rossum of Osage and Rosalie (Doug) Malo of Brookings, S.D. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Lewiston, with the Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoff Funeral Homes-Lewiston Chapel and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
