OBITUARY: Emil Valasek, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News, online, www.mcpress.com, Posted Oct. 9, 2001] Emil Valasek 1922-2001 Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 11. 2001, 1:30 pm at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, for Emil Valasek, age 79, of Osage. Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott will officiate. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery. Mr. Valasek died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. Visitation will be Wednesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, from 2 to 8 pm with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 pm. Emil was born June 7, 1922 in Alexandria, IA the son of Anton and Appolena (Smysik) Valasek. He moved with his parents to Mitchell County as a youth. Emil was united in marriage to Janele Bayliss on August 11, 1960. They lived and farmed north of Osage. To this union were born three children. He farmed all of his life. Emil also worked at Decker Meat Packing in Mason City and Oliver Corporation in Charles City. He was a lifetime member of the Bohemian Lodge, enjoyed going to sale barns, fishing and raising his Holstein cattle. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother and a half-sister. Those that survive him include his wife Janele of Osage; two daughters, Lori Valasek of Osage and Denise Valasek and her children, Brittany and Brayden; a son, Russ Valasek and wife Kathy of McIntire; and two step-children, Ashley and Amanda; one sister, and two brothers.
