OBITUARY: Mrs. Elmer (Bertha) Myrtle Black, Mitchell County, Iowa MRS. ELMER BLACK OSAGE- Mrs. Elmer (Bertha) Black 67, Mitchell, died Friday morning at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. She had suffered a stroke Thursday. Born at Compton, Ill., March 17, 1897, she was the daughter of William and Charity Myrtle. In 1910 she came to Mitchell County with her brother and his family. She was married to Elmer Black in 1917. They farmed near Stacyville until moving to Mitchell a few years ago. Surviving are her husband, two sons, George, Mason City; Claude, Waterloo; a daughter, Mrs. Clem (Kathryn) Lovik, Mitchell; a stepsister, Mrs. Doris Dean, Cedar Falls; two brothers, L. E. Myrtle, Osage; John W. Myrtle, Rockford, Ill., nine grandchildren. Services are set tentatively for Monday afternoon at Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Champion Funeral Home is in charge.
