OBITUARY: Grace Ione Mitchell Graves, Mitchell County, Iowa Grace Ione Graves [Mitchell County Press-News online - 10 APR 2002 - www.mcpress.com ] Funeral services for Ione Graves, age 81, of Riceville were held Thursday, April 4, 2002 at the United Church of Christ in Osage. The Rev. Robert Melhorn officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville, IA. Ione passed away Monday, April 1, 2002 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, IA. Ione was born March 7, 1921 in Marshall County to Merrill and Marguerite (Teeters) Mitchell. She was united in marriage to Marion L. Graves August 11, 1940 at the Congregational Church in Marshalltown, IA. Marion and Ione moved to Riceville in 1950, where they engaged in farming until their retirement. Ione enjoyed china painting, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years, a member of Eastern Star and a lifetime member of the Congregational Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Marion in 1998 and a sister Helen Mitchell. Survivors include one son Dean Graves and his wife Joni of Osage; three daughters, Marilyn Butters and her husband Jerry of Mason City, Peggy Gall and her husband Jim of Union and Jean Affeldt and her husband Phillip of State Center. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Kenneth Butters and his wife Karla and their four children, Brandon, Rachel, Blake, Rachel of Washington, IA; Keith Butters and his wife Sherri and their three children, Breanne, Zach and Brooke of West Des Moines; Kevin Butters, his wife Tammy of Des Moines; Kyle Butters, his wife Amy and their two children, Jessica and Katelyn of West Bend, WI; Marian Gall of Urbandale; Brian Gall, his wife Rebecca and their two children Walker and Taryn of Union; Nicole Affeldt of Phoenix, AZ; Chad Affeldt, his wife Steph of Clemons; Richard Affeldt, his wife Karen of Coralville; Robert Graves of Osage and Russell Graves of Norfolk, VA; and one brother Merrill Dean Mitchell and his wife Mary of Marshalltown.
