OBITUARY: Ida Emilie Belz Groth 1901-2002, Mitchell County, Iowa Ida Emilie Groth [Mitchell County Press online - Posted Oct. 30, 2002] Funeral services for Ida Groth, age 101, were held Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St, Ansgar, IA, The Reverend Byron Northwick officiated. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Ida passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar. Ida Emilie Groth was born June 13, 1901 in Barton Township, Worth County, Iowa to George and Martha (Ruehlow) Belz. She was baptized by Rev. Johnnes Becker July 7, 1901. She was confirmed by Rev. John Landdeck April 16, 1916 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, IA. She attended country school in Barton Township in Worth County. Ida married Henry Groth on Feb. 24, 1924 at her parents home by Rev. John Landdeck. This union was blessed with four children. They lived on a farm north east of St. Ansgar until 1954. Ida moved into St. Ansgar in 1959. She entered the Good Samaritan Center July 9, 1990. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar and a member of Ladies Aid and circle. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry in 1954, a daughter Arlene, two sisters and one brother. Her survivors include a daughter Dorothy and her husband Harlan Sponheim of St. Ansgar, two sons Arnold and wife Gladys Groth of St. Ansgar, Paul and his wife Barbara Groth of St. Ansgar, 11 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends at the Good Samaritan Center.
