OBITUARY: Bertha Huemann Mullenbach 1896-2002, Mitchell County, Iowa Bertha Mullenbach [Mitchell County Press online - Posted Oct. 30, 2002] Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, IA for Bertha Mullenbach, age 106, of Osage. The Reverend Philip Recker officiated. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Osage, IA. She died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Bertha was born May 8, 1896 in Stacyville Township the daughter of Nicholas and Helen (Blake) Huemann. She was united in marriage to Fred Mullenbach on Feb. 13, 1917 and they farmed near Stacyville and Osage until 1949 when they moved to Osage where Bertha did housework for many years. Fred died in 1957. Bertha was able to live in her own home until the age of 93, when she had surgery. She then lived with her daughter Marce Kisner until she entered the Faith Lutheran Home in July 1996. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Fred, sons Gervase, Harold, Melvin, a daughter, Marce, three brothers and six sisters. Bertha is survived by two sons, Germaine Mullenbach and wife Helen of Ames, LaVerne Mullenbach and wife Bonnie of Osage, two daughters-in-law, Millie Mullenbach of Osage and Marie Mullenbach of Tucson, AZ, son-in-law Tim Kisner of Osage, 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
