OBITUARY: Lawrence L. Johnson 1930-2002, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News, online, www.mcpress.com, Posted Oct 23, 2002] Lawrence L. Johnson Funeral services for Lawrence L. Johnson, age 72, of Osage were held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, October 23, 2002, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Osage American Legion Post 278. Lawrence died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage from complications of a stroke. He was born April 8, 1930 in Rolfe, IA the son of Vernet and Mildred (Neilsen) Johnson. He attended school at Rolfe. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Lawrence was united in marriage to Faye Dohlman on Jan. 5, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived and farmed in the Riceville area and moved to Osage in 1997. He continued to help with farming in the New Haven area and he was noted for being the neighborhood mechanic. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herb Johnson and one granddaughter Jodi Oulman in 1995. His survivors include his wife Faye Johnson of Osage, two daughters, Vickie Brown and husband Lynn of Osage, Cindy Bartusek and husband Dave of Osage, three sons, Steven "Redbone" Johnson of Riceville, Mike Johnson and wife Betty of Stacyville, Pat Johnson and wife Cindy of Adams, MN, four sisters Delores House and husband Dick of Anchorage, AK, Elaine West of Riceville, Ilalee Fjetland and husband Donald of Riceville, Ivadel Fjetland and husband Danny of Riceville, 11 grandchildren, one step-grandson and two great grandsons.
