OBITUARY: Burton Magnus Larson, 1900-1966 Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] BURTON M. LARSON FUNERAL HELD AT OTRANTO CHURCH Burton Magnus Larson was born May 25, 1900 in Mona. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Mona, and was the son of George and Matilda Larson. On December 11, 1922 he was united in marriage to Lucille Klusmeier at Austin, Minn. They lived in Lyle the first 24 years and while residing there, their three sons; Eldon, Virgil and Douglas were born. Burton was a retired railroad man. He worked on the Chicago Great Western for 23 years and was made foreman in 1928. He continued working in Lyle until December 1946, when they moved to Otranto. While in Lyle he served on the school board nine years. In Otranto he helped his wife operate a grocery store. He drove school bus for 15 years, beside other numerous jobs. While in Lyle they were members of the Lutheran church. After coming to Otranto they joined the Otranto Community Church. Mr. Larson died at his home suffering from a coronary thrombosis February 12, 1966. He was preceded in death by a son, Virgil, his parents and three sisters; Rebecca Larson, Mrs. Lilla Barckley, Mrs. Marion McCamy. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; two sons, Eldon and Douglas, a daughter-in-law, Kay and six grandchildren; William, Lu Jean, Julie, Debra, Dale and Jimmy. Also four brothers and four sisters; Mrs. Ben Christopherson, LeRoy Minn.; Mrs. Ruth Anderson, Austin, Minn.; Leonard Larson, Montanta; Le Due Larson, Stewartville, Minn.; Mrs. Lee Cole, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Harold Cole, Dexter, Minn.; Mr. Elmer Larson, Grand Forks, N.D., Elser Larson, Fort Worth, Tex.
