OBITUARY: William D. 'Bill" Markham, Mitchell County, Iowa William D. 'Bill" Markham [ Mitchell County Press online - Posted June 26, 2002 - www.mcpress.com ] A Memorial Mass was held June 14, 2002 for William D. Markham, 62, formerly of Osage at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM with family and friends in attendance. Markham died at his home in Albuquerque on Friday, June 7, 2002 after a battle with cancer. William D. Markham, the son of Glenn and Shirley (Duenow) Markham was born Dec. 18, 1939, in Mitchell County, Iowa. He attended school in Mitchell County and graduated from Osage High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving eight years. During that time he met and married his wife of 40 years, Elaine "Dolly." In 1976 Bill joined the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Service Career Communications Specialist. After serving for 22 years, he retired and took a position with JAYCOR in Albuquerque, NM, in 1990. Preceding Bill in death was his father Glenn Markham, on Jan. 3, 2002 and brother-in-law Tom Blake. Survivors include his wife Dolly, son Christopher and wife Heidi, son Craig and wife Lisa, daughter Keri and husband Tony Minter, six grandchildren Scott, Taylor, Cody, Mikhaila, Rashaun and Tianna Re, mother Shirley (Duenow) Markham of Osage, four sisters and four brothers, Janice Dempsey and husband John of Osage, Barbara Markham of Osage, Joan Blake of St. Ansgar, Pat Karau and husband Roger of Savage, MN, Ronald and wife Kristine of Parkers Prairie, MN, Richard and wife Marge of Osage, Robert and wife Kate of Lakeside, CA and Keith and wife Jessica of Gig Harbor, WA, and their families, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
