OBITUARY: James Arthur Myers 1931-2002, Mitchell County, Iowa James Arthur Myers [Mitchell County Press-News, online, www.mcpress.com, Posted Nov. 6, 2002] Graveside services with full military honors were held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Highland Cemetery in Iola, KS, for James Arthur Myers, 71 of Belleview, FL He died Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Summerfield, FL. His body was cremated. James was born July 9, 1931 in Osage, IA to Doan and Ruth Parker Myers. He grew up in Osage and graduated from Osage High School. Myers served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War for four years. On April 12, 1955 he married Geri Arndt of Osage. He was graduated from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a degree in marketing and business administration, then worked as a salesman and later as an independent truck driver before his retirement. The couple moved to Iola, KS in 1973 from Watertown, CN. They retired to Florida in 1995. Myers was a member of the Iola American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Belleview. Survivors include his wife, a son Jim of Iola, a daughter Jackie Thompson, of Iola, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
