OBITUARY: Laurina Augusta Emma Steinberg Perau 1912-2002, Mitchell, Iowa Laurina Augusta Emma Perau [Mitchell County Press online - Posted Oct. 30, 2002] Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage for Laurina Augusta Emma Steinberg Perau. The Reverend Christian F. Gugel officiated. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery. Laurina died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar. Laurina Perau was born on Nov. 17, 1912 in Rock Township of Mitchell County. She was the daughter of Emil and Selma (Wilde) Steinberg. She was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Rock Township on December 15, 1912 and confessed her faith in Confirmation on May 29, 1927. Laurina was united in marriage on Nov. 15, 1936 to Orlan Perau at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St Ansgar. They made their home on a farm southwest of Osage. Two children were born to this union, Margaret and Marlys Perau. She liked gardening, her flowers, her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband Orlan in 1988 and a daughter Marlys in 1993. Laurina is survived by her daughter Margaret Hegland and husband Paul of Osage, four granddaughters: Sheryl Nelson and husband Alan and their children Jacob, Maria and Leah of St. Ansgar, Sharlene Sorensen and husband Fred and their children Lezlie and Lyle of Waltham, MN, Mary Ann Hudziak and husband Kevin and their children Darren and Tanner of Wild Rose, WI, Marjorie Simpson and husband Kevin and their children Spencer and Connor of Hudson, IA, one grandson, Merlyn Hegland of Orchard, one brother, Edwin Steinberg and his wife Maxine of St. Ansgar, also many nieces and nephews.
