OBITUARY: Leo C. Ross, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News, online, www.mcpress.com, Posted June 5, 2002] Leo C. Ross Funeral services were held for Leo C. Ross, age 83, of Osage on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Rev. Dennis Hanson officiated. Interment was at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City, with military rites conducted at the grave by the Osage American Legion Post 278. Leo died Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar. Leo was born February 27, 1919 at Bassett, the son of August and Frances (Schilling) Ross. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He farmed southeast of Cowell, and also was employed at the Floyd Quarry until his retirement. Leo married Vera (O'Donnell) Miller in 1961 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. He was a member of the Osage American Legion Post 278. He was preceded in death by his parents. Leo is survived by his wife Vera Ross, of Osage, two stepsons, Duane Miller of Boaz, AL and Harold "Tub" Miller of Leland, IA, five step-grandchildren, Ken Miller, Scott Miller, Marla Sgarbossa, Michael Britt, Harold Britt, Jr. and nine step-great-grandchildren.
