OBITUARY: George Smolik 1907-1998, Mitchell County, Iowa George Smolik [Mason City Globe Gazette, www.globegazette.com May 5, 1998] OSAGE -- George Smolik, 90, of Osage, died Sunday (May 3, 1998) at the Faith Home in Osage. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott, officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. He was born Dec. 23, 1907 in Brainard, Neb. Survivors include four sons, Marvin Smolik, of Osage, Marlow "Dean" Smolik, of Hampton, Wayne Smolik, of Osage, and Allen Smolik, of Osage; two sisters, Lydia Deal, Boone, and Helen Lund, Bellevue; four brothers, Edward Smolik, Ernest Smolik, Raymond Smolik, all of Osage, and Duane Smolik, San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
