OBITUARY: Martha (Trachte) Wilde, Mitchell County, Iowa MRS. MARTHA WILDE FUNERAL HELD JANUARY 28 Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Wilde, 92, lifelong Grafton area resident, who died Monday January 24 at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar, were held Friday, January 28 (1965) at St. Johns's Lutheran church, Rock township, with the Rev. Elmer Jacobs officiating. Mrs. Wilde, daughter of August and Augusta Trachte, was born April 5, 1873 in Jefferson County, Wis. She was confirmed April 3, 1887 at Watertown, Wis. On May 20, 1897 she was united in marriage with Herman Wilde. After their marriage they lived on a farm southwest of church in Rock township for 40 years. Two sons and four daughters were born to this union. In 1940 they retired to Grafton. Mrs. Wilde lived in Grafton until 1958. Then from 1958 until 1964 she lived with her children. One son, Lawrence, preceded her in death in 1929, and her husband, May 6, 1942; also three brothers and sisters. In May 1964 she became a patient at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital until last fall when she was moved to the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar where she died on the afternoon of January 24. Survivors include: son, Arthur of Mitchell; three daughters, Mrs. Leona Bethke of Osage, Mrs. Edna Wald of Adams, Minn.; Mrs. Clarence (Laura) Hilsman of Mitchell; 17 grandchildren; and 38 great grandchildren. Also two brothers, John Trachte of Columbus, Wis. and Otto Trachte of Arpin, Wis.; and two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Wilde of Grafton and Emilie Johnson of Oconomowoc, Wis. Mrs. Wilde attained the age of 92 year, nine months and 19 days. Burial was in the old Rock Creek cemetery with Rev. Jacobs in charge of the committal services. Copyright 2003, Marilyn O'Connor
