In 1832 he came as far west as Chicago, which at that time was at the extreme frontier. In 1839 he was married at Elgin, Illinois, to Miss Mary Butler. To them nine children were born, of whom three sons and three daughters are still living. In 1853, they moved to Decorah, Iowa, where Mrs. Bailey died three years later. In 1867 Mr. Bailey was married to Anna Butler who survives him. In 1876 they came to Osage where they have since resided. Mr. Bailey united with the M. E. church in early life, but in recent years did not attend because of deafness. He was an intelligent man, who read much and remembered much that he read. The funeral services were held at the M.
