OBITUARY: Abram Beckner, ??-1895, Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] Death of Abram Beckner E. E. Beckner, of this city received a message yesterday from Roswell, South Dakota, saying that his father died at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening, January 1, 1895. He had been sick for four weeks of typhoid fever. Mr. Beckner had lived in this county at two different times, first about thirty-five years ago. He then moved to La Porte, Indiana, where he lived several years when he returned to this county. Ten years ago he moved to South Dakota where he has since lived. He was 61 years of age last June. His wife, who survives him was Miss Angelina Drake, a sister of Henry and Everett Drake, who reside north of Osage. To them were born seven children, five boys and two girls all of them living, but all away from home except the youngest boy. Their son George, who has been living with Mr. Buttolph's in Rock township, left for Roswell Tuesday morning, but probably did not reach there in time to see his father alive.
