OBITUARY: Robert Buckingham, 1926-2003, Mitchell County, Iowa Robert Buckingham [Mitchell County Press-News online - Posted Mar. 19, 2003] Funeral services were held for Robert Buckingham, 77, of Stacyville, IA on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville. Father Mark Reasoner officiated. Burial was in the Visitation Cemetery. Military honors were by Hale Penney Fuller Post #569 of the American Legion. Robert died on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville, IA. Robert was born on January 1, 1926 in Albia, IA to Howard and Amanda (McBride) Buckingham. He served in the United States Army as a tank driver during the Korean Conflict. Robert married Phyllis Durben on December 30, 1952 at Queen of Angels parsonage in Austin, MN. He liked working on and building roads, going from job to job in a house trailer. Robert worked for Oliver in Charles City for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Robert's family always came first. The last two years were spent in the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Glenn and Jack. His survivors include his wife Phyllis of Stacyville; five sons, David (Anne) of Casper, WY; John (Vicki) of Byron, MN, Joe of Granby, CO, Tim (Laura) of Byron, MN and Richard of Rochester, MN; five grandchildren; two sisters-in- law, Mary Buckingham of Albia, IA and Dorothy Buckingham of Ottumwa, IA. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, IA 641-713-4920 had charge of arrangements.
