OBITUARY: DeFord Mrs., c1833-1916, Mitchell County, Iowa

                   OLD STETTLER DIED TUESDAY MORNING

Grandma DeFord died Tuesday morning after many months of suffering from
cancer of the throat at the age of 83 years.  Several months ago her
granddaughter, Miss Eva Dean, took the aged lady to Rochester to consult
the specialists there, but no help could be had.  Death came as a relief
to the patient sufferer.

Mrs. DeFord came to Mitchell county with her husband in the early days
and lived on a farm east of town for a number of years.  They moved to
town about fifteen years ago, her granddaughter, Eva Dean has made her
home with her.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 from the house.
