OBITUARY: Stella May Wilson Howkos, 1869-1894, Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] Death of Mrs. Howkos One of the most patient sufferers we have known in years was Mrs. Henry Howkos, to whose relief death came Wednesday, November 28. For more than a year she seemed to lie at the point of death with consumption. While her friends mourn, they also can realize a sense of thankfulness that the weary days of suffering are over and that rest has come. Stella May Wilson, third child of Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson, was born in Whitewater, Wallworth county, Wisconsin, June 8, 1869. When four months old she came to Iowa with her parents. The first few years of her life were spent on a farm in Worth county. In November, 1879, she removed with her parents to Osage, where the remaining years of her life were spent. November 23, 1885, she was married to Henry Howkos. Their union was blessed with two children, Zora, age 7 and Burleigh, age 5. For the past two and a half years she has been a great sufferer, yet she was patient and trusted in Him whom she loved and served. (1894).
