OBITUARY: Dale Lawrence Irvin, 1918-2003, Mitchell Co., Iowa [ Mitchell County Press-News online - Mar. 26, 2003 - www.mcpress.com ] Dale Lawrence Irvin Funeral services for Dale Lawrence Irvin, age 84, of Riceville, IA were held Thursday, March 20 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, IA. The Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, IA. Dale passed away at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospital in Osage, IA March 17, 2003. Dale was born May 9, 1918 in rural Acme, IA to Arthur Chester and Harriet Seavy Irvin. He attended rural schools in the Acme area and graduated from Riceville High School in 1936. Dale joined his family in farming. He was united in marriage to Jean (Marr) Irvin on March 5, 1946 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. Dale enjoyed time spent with his family, camping and traveling. Dale worked as a sales representative to North Iowa Grain Equipment. He lived on the family farm until his retirement. In his retirement years he hauled livestock until 1997. Preceding Dale in death were his parents, one brother Adrian and a sister Lu Ann Saathoff. His survivors include his wife Jean of Riceville, two sons Larry and his wife Clare and Scott and his wife Angie all of Riceville and a daughter Carol of Ankeny, IA. Also surviving are three grandsons Jared of Riceville; Bryan of New Ulm, MN; David of Riceville and one sister Ione Stephens and her husband Willis of Fairfax, VA; nieces and nephews. Lindstrom Funeral Home of Riceville had charge of arrangements.
