OBITUARY: Donald L. Kirchgatter, c1932-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 28 MAY 1981] Donald L. Kirchgatter Funeral Held in San Pablo, Calif. Funeral services for Donald L. Kirchgatter, 49, of San Pablo, Calif., who died May 12 in a San Francisco hospital, were held May 15 at the Chapel of the Mission Bells in San Pablo. Mr. Kirchgatter, a native of Carpenter, was a retired California Highway patrolman. He was a 25-year member and director for seven years and past Governor of Richmond Lodge No. 550, Loyal Order of Moose; Eureka Lodge No. 636, Loyal Order of Moose; and Legion of the Moose, LaCosta Legion No. 70 of Oakland. He was an organizer of a Moose Lodge in Clear Lake, Calif. and was conferred the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, Loyal Order of Moose. He was a member of the California Highway Patrol association and Board of Directors from 1967 to 1969, and a motorcycle patrolman for 11 years on the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge. He was a member of the Richmond Police Department from May 1958 to July 1969. He served in the U.S. Air Force During the Korean War. He is survived by a son, Kirk and a daughter, Yvette, both of San Pablo, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Mabel Kirchgatter of St. Ansgar; his brother, Leland of Cresco; his sister, Shirley Brock of Osage. Attending the services in California from this area were his sister.
