OBITUARY: Leslie Carr Klusmeier 1921-1966, Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] LESLIE C. KLUSMEIER RITES HELD AT OTRANTO CHURCH Funeral services for Leslie C. Klusmeier, 44, of Otranto, who died of a heart attack Saturday, August 27 (1966) at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage, were held Tuesday, August 30, at the Otranto Community church with the Rev. Eugene Schmidt and the Rev. Elwin A. Labrenz of Montello, Wis., officiating. Leslie Carr Klusmeier was born in Otranto township December 16, 1921, the son of John F. and Bertha (Carr) Klusmeier, and he lived there his entire life except for four years which he spent in the service for his country. While in service he was first stationed in California, and from there he was sent to the Phillipines. He was baptized in infancy, and was a faithful member of the Otranto Community church, serving on the church board for several years, and was president at the time of his death. Mr. Klusmeier was graduated from Otranto high school in 1939. In 1946 he entered into partnership with his father in the Otranto Hatchery and Produce. He was a member of the American Legion. On December 8, 1954 he was united in marriage to Beverly Finley. They have two daughters. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, two daughters, LuAnn Marie 4 1/2 and Lora Lee, 2; four sisters, Mrs. Lucile Larson of Otranto, Mrs. Raymond (Verdie) Carlson of Lyle; Mrs. Edith Ransom of Lyle, one brother, William Klusmeier of Rose Creek, Minn.; also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. John (Emily) Schulz. Burial was in Woodbury cemetery with Rev. Schmidt in charge of the committal services. The Carpenter American Legion Post honor squad was in charge of military rites. Pallbearers were Olaf Pederson, Wilbur Groos, Raymond Konrad, Everest Bueher, Kerman Wenger, and Howard Rankin, Roger Campbell was soloist and Mrs. Irma Osmonson was organist. Out of town persons attending the funeral came from Lyle, Austin, Coon Rapids, Grand Meadow, Mound, Minneapolis, Albert Lea, Rochester, Rose Creek, Owatonna, Minn, Des Moines, Osage, St. Ansgar, New Hampton, Latimer, Clear Lake, Mason City, Rowan, Carpenter, Northwood, Iowa and Montello, Wis.
