OBITUARY: Louis Herman Koster, 1900-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 11 JUN 1981] Louis Koster Funeral Held Here May 30 Funeral services for Louis H. Koster, 80, of St. Ansgar, who died at his home May 28, were held May 30 at the St. Ansgar United Methodist church with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Louis Herman Koster was born November 28, 1900 on a farm near Riceville, the son of Herman and Jennie (Storie) Koster. As a young man he moved with his family to the farm southeast of St. Ansgar. He married Elsie Arp of Osage February 22, 1922. Five children were born to them. In 1951 they retired to their home in St. Ansgar. For many years he spent time fishing and doing woodworking until his health failed. Mr. Koster is survived by a son, Darwin of St. Ansgar; two daughters, Mrs. Elvin (Neva) Toppin of Osage and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Hyland of Hayfield, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 32 [great?] grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edna Duenow of St. Ansgar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, who died March 26; two sons, Marlin and Delmer; a brother, George. Burial was in the Osage cemetery with Rev. Wittern in charge of committal services.
