OBITUARY: Myrtle E. Kruger Davis, 1920-2003, Mitchell County, Iowa Myrtle E. Davis [Mitchell County Press-news online - Posted January 15, 2003] Funeral services for Myrtle E. Davis, age 82, of Mason City and formerly of Orchard were held Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiated. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. Myrtle died suddenly at her home on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003. Myrtle was born March 11, 1920 on the family farm near Grafton, the daughter of Alvin and Esther (Walk) Kruger. She was educated in rural schools. Myrtle was united in marriage to James Davis on March 26, 1945 at the Methodist Church in Plymouth. They farmed in the Grafton, Nora Springs and Carpenter areas. They retired and moved to Orchard. They moved to Mason City in September of 2002. Myrtle was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and her church circle in Osage. She taught Sunday School, enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, candy making, crocheting and sewing. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Richard Kruger, and two brothers Harvey Kruger and Walter Kruger. Her survivors include a husband James Davis of Mason City, one son Phillip Davis of Grafton and his son John Davis and wife Heather of Las Vegas, NV and their daughter Jaden, one daughter Karen Gourley and husband Steve of Mason City and their children Chad Gourley of Ames and Dawn Bonner of Mason City and her children Kristina and Selena, four brothers Rev. Harold Kruger and wife Jacqueline of Geneseo, NY, Edward Kruger and wife Maxine of Grafton, Rev. Robert Kruger of Rock Island, IL, Allen Kruger and Shirley of Morrisville, MO, five sisters, Gladys Grant of Osage, Dora Runyon and husband David of Council Bluffs, Ruth Erdmann and husband Philip of Osage, Clarice Wilde and husband Robert of Osage, Deanna Sande and husband Gary of St. Paul, MN, two sisters-in-law, Juanita Kruger of Northwood, Rose Marie Kruger of Northwood and several nieces and nephews.
