OBITUARY: Anna Christine Heggerustad Lunde, 1853-1915, Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] Obituary-Lunde One of the active members of the Rock Creek Lutheran congregation passed away from the activity of the home and church; but we have reason to believe that she has gone into "The Sabbath rest, which remaineth for the people of God." Anna Christine Lunde was born in Nes Aadalen, Norway, Oct. 15, 1853, where she was baptized and confirmed. Her parents were Hans and Marie Heggerustad. She died at her home three and one-half miles north of Nora Springs, Iowa, Nov. 28, 1916, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 12 days. She came to America in the summer of 1878 and stayed about one month at Hayward, Minn. when she came to the Rock Creek settlement, where she has lived ever since. May 12, 1880, she was united in marriage to Gabriel Lunde. Five children were born to this union. One boy and a girl died in their infancy. Three sons survive her; Gustaf and Malvin who live on farms near the parental home, and Russell, at home. The husband and the three sons remain to mourn the departure of a good wife and mother. Three grandchildren survive her, also two brothers, Iver, in Norway, and Gulbrand of Fairdale, N.D. who, with his daughter, came before the death of Mrs. Lunde and they were present at the funeral which was held Nov. 30. A short service principally in the English language, was held at the home. The services were held at the Rock Creek Lutheran church, which was filled with friends and neighbors. There were several from a distance: V. Gulbrandon. Albert Lea; Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Teslow, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Lunde, I. Hove and Carl Lunde from Hayward, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Elling Savre, Mrs. K. Savre, Mrs. Kelophas, from Kensett, Iowa, and many from Osage. Mrs. G. Lunde has been a member of Rock Creek Lutheran church ever since she came to the settlement. She was laid to rest in the family lot in the Lutheran cemetery near the church.
