OBITUARY: Vern Morris, 1896-c1965, Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] VERN MORRIS, 69 OF OSAGE DIED MONDAY Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. for Vern Morris, 69,who died of a heart condition Monday afternoon at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital following an illness of several weeks. The Rev. Wesley Anderson, pastor of the Baptist church in Osage, will be in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Osage cemetery. Vern William Morris was born at McIntire, Oct. 30, 1896, the son of Abraham and Lucinda Strickland Morris. He attended the schools at Brownville and Riceville. His marriage to Laura Haugh of Osage took place in the Baptist parsonage in Cedar Falls, Dec. 5, 1922. They established their home in Osage. Mr. Morris was a section foreman on the Great Western railway until his retirement, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He was an affiliate of the Baptist church in Osage. Surviving his wife, Laura of Osage; one son, LaVerne of Fairmont, Minn.; two grand daughters Connie, Mrs. Ronald Tuin of St. Cloud, Minn and (rest is missing).
