OBITUARY: Lillian Moore (Mussetter) Balsley, 1896-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 18 JUN 1981] Mrs. Jim Balsley Funeral Held Here Thursday, June 11 Funeral services for Mrs. Jim Balsley, 84, of Otranto, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital June 8, were held June 11 at the Schroeder Funeral Home here with the Rev. Bruce Wittern, pastor of the St. Ansgar United Methodist church, officiating. Lillian Moore Balsley, daughter of Lilburn and Lillie Ann (nee Vandruff) Mussetter, was born July 29, 1896 in Mitchell county. She taught school in Iowa and North Dakota, and for several years during World War II, taught in this area. She married Alva S. (Jim) Balsley April 29, 1922. She lived all of her married life in Mitchell county. Mrs. Balsley is survived by her husband, Jim of Otranto; a daughter, Mrs. Jose L. (Mary Ann) Garcia-Oller of New Orleans, La.; a son, James L. Balsley of Minneapolis, Minn.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Stephen Lowell. Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Wittern in charge of the committal services.
