OBITUARY: Julia E. (Olson) Pederson, 1898-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 29 JAN 1981] Julia E. Pederson Funeral Held Friday, January 23 Funeral services for Mrs. Julia E. Pederson, 82, who died January 20 at St. Mark's Retirement Home in Austin, Minn., were held January 23 at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. E. C. Franke, pastor of Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, officiating. Mrs. Pederson was born in Worth county November 15, 1898 the daughter of Gilbert and Mary Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Deer Creek Lutheran church of which she was a life long member. She attended school in Deer Creek township. She married Sever Pederson March 13, 1916. They farmed in the Meltonville area. Mrs. Pederson was widowed early in their marriage, and raised her four children with the assistance of her mother. Her first concern in life was her family. Mrs. Pederson is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Orris (Hilda) Lerud of Valley City, N. D.; Mrs. Ray (Clara) Dieterich of Plano, Tex.; and Mrs. Dean (Sylvia) Hotson of Austin, Minn.; one son, Olaf Pederson, route 1, St. Ansgar; 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; one sister, Miss Dena Olson of Owatonna, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, six sisters and a granddaughter. Pallbearers were Dennis Grundel, Glenn Lerud, Paul Pederson, Don Pederson, Steve Pederson and Paul Cooper. Soloist at the funeral was Marvin Pederson, a grandson.
