OBITUARY: Olaf J. Olson, 1911-c1965 Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR OLAF J. OLSON, 54 Funeral services for Olaf J. Olson, 54, of rural Osage, who died Sunday at his farm hone were held Tuesday afternoon at Rock Creek Lutheran church near Osage. The Rev. Donald L. Berg, church pastor, officiated at the services. Arrangements were by C. R. Champion and Sons and burial was at Rock Creek cemetery. Mr. Olson died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds at his home, according to Dr. G. E. Krepelka, Mitchell county medical examiner. He was thought to be despondent over ill health. Olaf James Olson was born June 5, 1911 in Rock township, Mitchell county, the son of Gustav and Bertine Torblaa Olson. He was baptized at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, July 23, 1911, where he was confirmed May 24, 1925. He attended the schools in the area. October 24, 1934, he was united in marriage to Alice Amundson. They farmed in the Rock Creek area. Survivors include his wife Alice; one brother, Glenn of Nora Springs; one sister, Gladys, Mrs. Fred Shoger of Osage.
