OBITUARY: Paul J. Philipp, 1898-1966, Mitchell County, Iowa

                  FUNERAL HELD FOR PAUL J. PHILIPP, 67

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Eden Presbyterian church for Paul J.
Philipp, 67 of Rudd.  The Rev. H. A. Smidt, church pastor was in charge of
the service and was assisted by the Rev. Will McLaughlin, pastor of the
Rudd Methodist church.  Burial was at Evergreen cemetery near Rudd.

Mr. Philipp died Saturday Jan. 1, (1966) at a Charles City hospital
following a 10-day illness. Cause of death was attributed to a heart attack.

Paul Jacob Philipp was born Aug. 6, 1898 in Herman, Mo., the son of Andrew
and Emma Proett Philipp.  He moved to the Rudd area in 1918 and was engaged
in farming until 1952.

He has since lived in Rudd and was semi-retired.  He was a member of Eden
Presbyterian church and the Moose Lodge of Charles City.

Mr. Philipp was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward.

Survivors include four brothers: Walter of Tucson, Ariz.; Andrew of Osage;
Robert of Rudd; and Oliver of Charles. City.
