OBITUARY: Elizabeth C. Popp, 1894-2003, Mitchell County, Iowa Elizabeth C. Popp [Mitchell County Press-News online - Posted Mar. 19, 2003] Funeral services for Elizabeth C. Popp, age 99, were held Saturday, March 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Reverend Philip Recker officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Elizabeth died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at the Faith Home in Osage. Elizabeth Popp was born January 18, 1904 near Osage, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Hovel) Popp. She contracted polio at the age of four and was unable to attend school. Her siblings home schooled Elizabeth. She made her home with John and Frances Popp until 1976, when she became a resident of Faith Home. Family was important to her, and she was involved with three generations of the John Popp family. Elizabeth was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Guild. Prayer and the Rosary were the foundations of her life. She enjoyed crocheting doilies, embroidery and music, playing the harmonica and keyboard. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Orvin and John, four sisters, Mary Pelleymounter, Edith Meitner, Anna Meitner, Rose Ginder, nieces and nephews. Elizabeth is survived by 20 nieces and nephews. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, (641) 732-3706 had charge of arrangements.
