OBITUARY: James Samuel Potter, 1877-1966 Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] FUNERAL HELD FOR JAMES POTTER, 89 Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at Grace City, N.D. for a former Mitchell County resident, James Potter, 89, who died in Carrington, N. D. Aug. 22, (1966). Mr. Potter was in ill health several months. James Samuel Potter was born in Little Cedar, Aug. 26, 1877, the son of Myron and Mary Laughlin Potter, in a log cabin built prior to 1866. He grew to manhood in Mitchell county and went to North Dakota in 1898. His marriage to Isabelle Smith took place Nov. 4, 1904. Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Esther Luttewarger and Mrs. Thomas House; two sons, Ernest of Bismark and Harold of Grace City, N.D.; several grand children and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harley of Kalispel, Mont. Vernon of White Tail Mont., Claire of Fargo; two sisters, Mrs. William Woodard of Orville, Wash., and Mrs. William Barenz of Osage. His wife died three years ago.
