OBITUARY: Lawrence Quimby, 1906-1964, Mitchell County, Iowa [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] LAWRENCE QUIMBY OSAGE - Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:a.m. at the Champion Funeral Home for Lawrence Quimby, 58. He died Monday morning at his home at Osage. He was found by a neighbor lying beside his car, with the car door open. According to Osage authorities he died of a heart attack. (Sept. 23, 1964) The Rev. Robert L. Smith, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Osage, will officiate with burial at the Oak Wood Cemetery at Floyd. Lawrence Quimby was born Jan. 1, 1906, in rural Floyd County to Roy and Bessie Quimby. He attended the Floyd schools and was married to Iola Bucknel, June 18, 1927, at Charles City. They lived in Charles City until moving to Osage in 1941 where he had worked as a mechanic. He was employed at Olson Motors at Osage. Survivors include his father at Floyd; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Phyllis) Stevens of Galesburg, Ill.; two sons, Gary Quimby, Albany, Ga.; and Bink, Moline Ill.; 11 grandchildren tow brothers Kenneth and Keith, two sisters, Mrs. Burell Shankland and Mrs. William Stonecypher, all of Floyd.
