OBITUARY: Clarence Allen Ramsay, 1891-1980, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 8 JAN 1981] Clarence A. Ramsay Funeral Held December 29 Funeral services for Clarence A. Ramsay, 89, of Osage, who died December 26 in Osage, were held December 29 at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Osage with the Rev. Jacob Roth officiating. Clarence Allen Ramsay was born August 27, 1891 in rural Meltonville, the oldest child of David and Christena (Gordon) Ramsay. He attended Worth county rural schools, Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage and Southern Minnesota College of Engineering in Austin, Minn. He served in the U. S. Army in World War I and held 60 years of continuous membership in the American Legion. After returning from service, he established his own garage business in Otranto and later sold out to Tom Lenz, later moving to Floyd and Osage. August of 1923 he married Margaret V. Riley at St. Patrick’s Catholic church, rural Elma. Three children, Marie, Paul Riley and Joseph Clarence, all of whom preceded him in death. [Previous sentence is cq.] His sister, Mrs. Andrew (Selma) Damborg died in 1951 and his brother, Ralph in 1979. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Deola Wryn of Glendale, Calif. and Mrs. Florence Smith of West Branch; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Nellie McGrane of New Hampton, Mrs. Marie Muetz of Beloit, Wis. and Mrs. Celia Ramsay, Otranto; also nieces and nephews. Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery in Osage with Rev. Roth officiating and American Legion Post No. 278 conducted military rites at the grave site.
