OBITUARY: Ellen Ruhde, 1970-2003, Mitchell Co., Iowa [ Mitchell County Press-News online - Mar. 26, 2003 - www.mcpress.com ] Ellen Ruhde Funeral services for Ellen Ruhde, age 33, of Osage were held Monday, March 24, 2003, at the United Church of Christ in Osage, where she was a member. Reverend Robert Melhorn officiated. Interment was at Manilla, IA on Tuesday, March 25. Ellen died Thursday, March 20, 2003 of cardiac failure, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. Ellen was born on February 19, 1970, at Fort Dodge, IA, to Don and Jan (Pettigrew) Ruhde. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1988 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1993. She was united in marriage to David Kutz on September 3, 1994 in Iowa Falls. Ellen taught Spanish and English at Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne High School and at Osage High School. She also coached speech activities and was a sponsor of the National Honor Society. Ellen was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma women teachers society, PEO and the Osage Education Association. She enjoyed school activities, stamping, scrapbooking, collecting and corresponding with family and friends. Ellen's survivors include her husband David Kutz of Osage; parents Don and Jan Ruhde of Iowa Falls; sister Erin Peterson and husband Jason of Des Moines; nephew Brice Peterson; parents-in-law Don and Julie Kutz of Clare; brothers-in-law Keith Kutz and wife Jennifer of Atoka, TN; Phil Kutz and wife June of Jacksonville, FL and four nephews Michael, Thomas, Dakota and Matthew.
